Madilo.games is a fresh and passionate indie publisher from the Netherlands, founded by Jan Stronkman and supported by a close-knit family team. After more than 25 years of designing games as a dedicated hobbyist, Jan has turned his creativity into a publishing venture — bringing both his own games and those of other talented designers to the table.
At Madilo.games, Jan (Chief Play Officer) is joined by Ans Stronkman-Buiting (CCO) who plays an active role in playtesting, and supporting operational activities.
An additional role will be filled in the near future, focussing on the online marketing of Madilo.games in general and 24/7 Rally specifically.
Our focus lies on family-friendly games with low to medium complexity, rich interaction, and plenty of moments that bring children, teens, and adults together around the table.
Mijn motivatie en missie als spelmaker
“Spellen verbinden mensen.
How it all started
1971: My first cardboard race game with Matchbox cars
1972: A clone of Why (Alfred Hitchcock’s Cluedo version)
1973: Making a slot machine base on cards
1973: Losing with slotmachine game: printing my own (playing) money
1974: Playing Monopoly, Risk & Card games
1974-1989: Klaverjassen, Toepen, Hartenjagen, Zwikken, Bluffen, Jokeren…and more boardgames coming up.
1990-now: Playing, playing, playing. And designing and testing and publishing etc. etc.
The meaning of the word ‘Madilo‘
‘Madilo‘ is a word from the Indian dialect Telugu and means something like “I think of you”, but in a much deeper sense. More like “You are in my heart & mind and I will not forget you“.
My game design vision
“The Core Philosophy of my games is built on four pillars: Mind, Heart, Interaction, and Fun.
The Mind stands not only for strategy or clever playing, it is also about creating awareness, playing in the moment.
Heart evokes emotions – from laughter to tension or even a little annoyance, but always leaving a good memory.
Interaction ensures everyone stays engaged, even when it’s not their turn.
And Fun! That’s the sum of it all – games you’ll want to play again and again.”
